Our Mission
Since we have new followers thought would take this opportunity to share more about the Georgetowne Student Care Room. This program was started in 2016. Other schools have similar programs such as the Dragon Closet at PCHS or Moms Who Care at schools in Pekin and East Peoria. We meet once a month with GMS students who have been referred to the program for them to "shop" in the room. Referrals go through the school social worker. All items are free to these students. We carry school supplies, clothes, snacks and personal hygiene items. The program is voluntary and confidential. It is organized by volunteers and all items have been donated. We have had donation drives with the craft show, library, Casey's, Bridgeway Church and other organizations. We receive donations from district families, staff and community members. We have been able to get items to district families who have experienced a house fire. If we have a student need that we weren't able to meet it will be posted on the page in hopes that the item can be donated. In the last year we started an Amazon wish list as another way of communicating our needs to followers. All donations can be sent or dropped off at GMS. Thank you!!
