Special Education Coordinator(Administrative)

Duties

  • Monitor, evaluate and ensure the implementation of individual education programs.
  • Support a successful continuum of services. 
  • Promote use of research based interventions, strategies and instruction to help lead the District MTSS process, including annual training to staff.
  • Coordinate oversight, support and professional development for special education programs to ensure best practices are utilized district-wide.
  • Coordinate annual professional development for newly hired special education staff.
  • Coordinate opportunities to coach special education staff on effective research-based instruction, data collection and IEP writing.
  • Monitor special education programs and related services to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and district policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Principals and Superintendent to assess and analyze the needs of individual students.
  • Stay informed of legal requirements governing special education.
  • Supervise, evaluate, recruit and interview for employment of special education teachers and related service staff as applicable. 
  • Collaborate with related servicer personnel, school psychologist, school social worker and other members of the student IEP team.
  • Facilitate annual review and eligibility determination meetings.
  • Coordinate with Superintendent regarding matters of due process, mediation or state compliance related issues. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent.

 

Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess the appropriate Illinois licensure, with Director of Special Education or Educational Administration(with LBS I endorsement)
  • Candidate must have or be able to complete the mandatory teacher evaluation training prior to the start of the school year.
  • Minimum of 5 years special education experience. Prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, including IDEA, Section 504 and state-specific regulations
  • Excellent leadership, organization and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including parents, teachers, administrators and community organizations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing educational needs
  • Able to perform assigned job duties at assigned work locations throughout the district

 

Salary/Benefits

  • Salary range $80,000 to $85,000; based on education and experience
  • Board paid TRS
  • Other benefits consistent with certified collective bargaining agreement

Special Education Teachers

 

Serve as the teacher and case manager for students with special education services. Collaborate with paraprofessionals and teachers of general education to ensure accommodations are appropriately implemented for individual students. Participate as an active member of the IEP team, including drafting and oversight of individualized education plans. Progress monitor students and maintain accurate records on progress towards goals. Implement district approved special education interventions.

Professional Educators License with LBS1 endorsement.

District #102's salary is regionally competitive and the district offers a solid benefits package, including 80% district paid premiums for single medical coverage. Final salary will be determined per the collective bargaining agreement. Minimum starting salary for the 2025-2026 school year is $47,360.

Substitute Teacher Vacancies

District 102 is in need of additional substitute teachers.  Substitute teachers must possess the appropriate licensure from the state of Illinois.  To inquire about obtaining a substitute teacher certificate, contact the Regional Office of Education #53 which serves Tazewell, Mason and Woodford Counties at 309-477-2290.  For individuals who already possess the required licensure and are interested in substituting at District 102, contact Patty Crank in the district office at 309-382-2172 to learn more about applying.
